Service Planning and Operating Model
Service planning for Meadowbrook Specialist Health Hub
OPD and their consulting partners understand that a successful Health Hub is created through understanding what the area needs and then aligning this to a range of organisations so that a continuum of care is created.
The service planning process
To achieve the correct service mix, the project follows a process of strategic alignment, which starts with the service planning. The service plan looks at the needs in the area and future planning of key stakeholders such as the local area health organisation. From this engagement process an understanding of the gaps in the health system is formed and from this information, a targeted approach to service participation can be undertaken.
The Service planning identified an unmet need for Specialist Health Services in the area. Consultation across Public Health Services further re-enforced the need and demonstrated that the future re-development of the hospital would not fill the gap. this gap in service provision could be filled by existing organisations looking to expand in the area or new entrants.
From the service planning four key requirement areas have been established.
For more information on the health service planning, or to arrange a meeting to have a detailed conversation, please contact us.
Along with the need to increase services in the area, is the opportunity for local Specialists to relocate their current operations into a benchmark facility adjacent to the Logan Hospital. One driver for choosing this option is the expense of making a current, older services, comply with the AS/NZ Sterilization Standards 4187:2014 Hospitals (licensed) are required to meet this standard by December 2021.
Many services will struggle to incorporate the new standards whilst maintain operations, or just cannot due to the water quality requirements, or physical limitations of the building. The MSHC offers an opportunity to re-model existing service delivery into a new compliant environment to meet the timeframes required.
If you wish to discuss the effects of the Sterilisation legislation and opportunities, please contact us for a meeting.
Operating Model
OPD are experienced in establishing sustainable developments that support tenants and owners, through the establishment of effect operating frameworks including strata management and facility management.
The need for an operating model that understands the importance of the operations in MSHC is paramount to the success of the services. For this reason, a management resource will be available to the centre to co-ordinate tenants and engage with facilities, to ensure operations are effective.
Assisting in the service design are stakeholders who are experienced in Hospital and health operations and that understand the importance of Facility Management to the service.
